removing vacuum pod w/o breaking it
I need to replace the diaphragm in the foot well vacuum pod. It is held to the bracket by metal retaining clips slipped over plastic pegs on the bottom of the pod. How do I get the clips off without breaking the pegs?

I can't remember the right answer but I did post a thread on this topic about 4 years ago. If you search on my username and footwell vents or footwell pod, it should come up.

I'm not knowledgeable on the W-123, however, the W-126 pods are released by simply twisting the pod counterclockwise to disengage the pegs from the metal mounting bracket. Installation is the reverse of the removal.

I just used a screwdriver and one by one pried the tabs away, it worked for me without breaking anything.

I use a small set of dikes and kind of cut and twist the retaining clips. They break into 2 or 3 pieces generally. You will need to find some at a local hardware store. Dont lose the rubber washers behind the retaining clips.....
**seems like they are called "push lock clips" or something like that when you go and look for them**

Yes, but my '85 wagon has both types, the 3 tab/push lock washer type and the 3 twist lock tab variety. Both my '80 240's have this tab/push lock washer setup {only a couple of pods}.
