glow plug relay issues.
so I was mussing about under the hood of my TD yesterday. wrapped up, and went to fire up the car- no glow light. Thinking it could be the bulb, I cranked anyways and she did not fire off.
so I grabbed the test light- fuse strip is good, got power to it on both sides. all 5 GPs are less than 2 weeks old bosch units. all test good. relay is not kicking on, and I swapped out w/ a relay which was working fine on another car last year. same issues. with the testers I am not getting continuity to ground to the brown wire on the 4 wire plug. I get 12v+ to the #1 on the plug, or term 15 on the relay. red/ striped wire. anyone know where the brown ground wire ends from the relay ?( where is it grounded to??) from what I can make out of the other 2 wires, one is the violet wire which goes to the NSS, the other is to the light in the dash. should I get hot from the violet wire? or only when key is turned?

Red/black should be hot in RUN and START. Violet hot only in START. If the relay isn't closing at all, the violet wire isn't the problem. Looks like the ground might be the problem.

running a redundant ground solved it.
