Made it. From the south shore, massachusetts to the columbia gorge, oregon..3000mi&50hrs. was planning on mini gtg's along 90->94, but started class (wind energy) this week and ran out of time. the rig behaved herself well, and after my near catastrophic incident, actually felt better.
Had completed a
major overhaul through the summer (bosios, intake tuning, serious sound, vogtland seriesII rears, etc, etc)..and in the process had installed new upper control arms, no big deal right? well about 1000mi into the journey near delta, ohio..it became apparent my torque specs were off..literally, as in the continual movement of the arm on the new bushing actually backed the bolt all the way out. it was the "clunk" in the right front wheel well that made me think wtf!?! pulled in to the next rest stop, and upon seeing the uca flopping free..thanked the almighty that the upper ball joint held strong. can you say catastrophe at 75mph?
anyways, had my trusty surly touring bike, and after matching up the setup from the other side..was back on the road. thankfully it didnt happen in the dakotas.
