alda line and vacuum pics

I have noticed in the last two or three months my 116 seemed to have gotten slower, I lacked the take off speed that I was previously able to acheive, I changed my nozzles to monarks in early july, they seemed to work great as the ones I had prior to, although the old injector to head shims were razor thin. No real increase in power.

My shifting has also been getting more rough and with evidence of oil near by my vacuum pump, but this pump looks newer than ive seen in other 79 sd's. On three occaisions Ive senced a wierd noise while driving and knew that something was up and that my car would not shutoff when I parked it, and all three times it didnt shut off until I forced my door lock down/or hit the stop lever. The vacuum bleeds out sometime after five minutes of shut down, as I am able to lock all my doors centrally right after getting out of my car, but when re-entering only drivers unlocks and then after start up the rest will pop up. So my pump needs some attention, is this a newer pump or the original that came on the 617.950's?

Inspecting things again this morning I noticed that the line connecting the manifold pressure to the alda had failed right there at the banjo bolt fitting on the alda side. I can see the exposed metal, probably pretty brittle line after thirty years. what size tube is this and what grade of hose or plastic?

I wonder how many times ive looked over this minor detail without noticing??DOH! but I believe once fixed will help me regain some power...

Boost line from banjo to switch includes the banjo. You can check with Phil........he might have it. It's possible to use vacuum hose from the switch to the ALDA if you don't want to bother with the Tecalan line in that location.

I would start with a mighty vac. Hook it up to the main vac line. And see how much vac the pump is pulling. If it is above 20" then your pump is fine. Then you can go from there.

cool thanks fellas, replaced the alda line this morning and it drives much better throughout the rpm range! I am expecting to get a vac tester in the mail here shortly and will fix the pump issue
