New book "Greasy Rider"????
In the airport bookstore the other day I saw a new book "Greasy Rider". It's about 2 guys who drive coast-to-coast on fry oil in an '85 MB wagon. Has anybody here read it?
The author has a website: www.gregmelville.com

Some of our members live it. Might be an interesting read. The title concept took some imagination. Good enough for a movie? I hope not.

Cool, I did that guy's conversion a few years back, I'll have to give that a read!
He has a good 85 TD, I think the only problem he had was losing an SLS hose due to overloading the poor old thing. I recommended he should tow a small trailer right from the start. I remember when he stopped by here on his way I gave him a bunch of oil, the car did not sag 1", you gotta love a functional SLS. |

Hmm..I remember posting a response here, I guess it got lost in the crash...
I got an advanced reader copy from a friend who owns a bookstore (I found a few typos/misspellings ) And its a good read. Its more about their "adventure" than VO, although that does play a big part in their trip. The gist is, the guy gets a TD and has a greasecar kit put in and convinces his wife to let him drive from vermont to california. She agrees when he says he;ll bring someone along who has a clue about car mechanics. I guess since he writes for a living, he's not terribly handy under the hood. Anyway you can see the fun plot build from there Its fun reading about two people and their trials and tribulations associated with finding oil and keeping the old TD running. It would be worth it to pick up for a plane ride if you're interested in old mercedes and VO.
