Display/Speedometer Question
So I've posted a couple times but I thought this deserved its own thread. I have a euro spec 1981 300TD non-turbo. I have attached a picture of what the back of the display looks like. My speedometer isn't working but my odometer is. My dash lights also don't work.
I pulled out the display to attempt to fix these two issues. I jumpered the rheostat and attempted to figure out the speedometer issue. It seems as though I'm missing something, perhaps a speedometer sender? The pictures posted on my other thread (http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/showthread.php?t=235956) it appears that there is a sending unit that I don't have. The problem is that I also don't see a cable anywhere behind there to plug into this sending unit. I'm thinking the easiest solution, based on the fact that I haven't accomplished anything is to buy a new/used dash. What part number would I need for my car? Also how do I get the odometer in the new unit right? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for all your help! -knabe189 Last edited by knabe189; 11-01-2008 at 08:10 PM. I thought that's just for the cruise control, but I might be wrong. Does your wagon not have CC?

Speedometer
If you've got a functioning Odometer...There's just a "Gearing" problem inside
the Speedometer Head. 'Check out these "Search" answers/posts: http://www.peachparts.com/shopforum/search.php?searchid=3291860 Also, I think dieselgiant has a how to on his website.

Dieselgiant only has the repair for a broken odometer. I would proabably be able to figure it out once I get in there but say it is a stripped gear. How on earth do I get a replacement part for that?
Also, any thoughts on the dash lights? I jumpered the rheostat but no change. What is step 2? Thanks for the help. Also it doesn't look like your link works. Can you try sending it again? -knabe189
