Question about replacing brake calipers
I am replacing the front brake calipers and the rubber brake lines leading to them on my '82 300 TD Wagon this week. I have never done this before and just had one question. When remove the rubber brake line from the metal brake line, how do I go about keeping the brake fluid from leaking all over the place? Do I just kind of do it as fast as I can and hope for the best, or is there some other better way of doing this?

Put a piece of Saran Wrap under the reservoir cap.

Since I have never done this before, I need to ask, is there a special tool involved in this process? If so, is it something I can get at my local Auto Supply Warehouse type of place?

Listen UP... you are having to ask too many basic questions on an important subject...
You need to find someone to show you how to do this the first time... in addition to reading all you can .... We don't want your wife posting on here angry that the things we did not know to tell you about caused you or someone else to die... Brakes are very serious stuff.... they must be perfect... GET HELP the first time.... at the very least. Greg |

Leathermang's got it right. The chances are small that something could go wrong- but the consequences are high if it does.

Make sure you have an 11mm flare wrench! The rear lines can be a bear to remove if you do not have the flare wrnech.

You ain't just whistling dixie my friend, I did this job last weekend and replaced the lines. I butchered one of the hard lines a little, had to use vice grips to get it off.
