Totally agree with the sentiments...the car looks fantastic! I'm slightly envious, but I will say, it drives me (no pun) to really clean up mine. Thanks for sharing the pics...always love a good set of pics.

so with that said, the front bumper on mine has some fading/wear on certain spots...what's the best way of dealing with that? Spray paint or?

Andy

Body shop if you're not good with paint.

The car looks magnificent. The deep, glossy paint does show how well the car was taken care off.

Did you just prep it for winter hibernation?

Thanks for all the positive feedback guys! Ive put countless hours of blood sweat and tears into getting her in that good a shape (surprisingly no body work). For 207K, I would say the old girl looks pretty damm good. The interior is even cleaner if you can believe that. The MB TEX does NOT age, I repeat, does NOT age. It must be made out of some secret NASA material. I will see if I can snap some pics before I put her away.

She is all prepped to be put in a barn for the winter . I keep putting it off because I dont want to put it away. I drive 70 miles everyday for work and the comfort, mpg (26-30 avg), and the shear enjoyment it brings to me everyday is going to be missed. Especially since I will be driving a chevy truck for the winter time up here. Kind of hard to go from that to that. But once the NY salt starts flying everywhere, I will be humble knowing she is tucked away.

Normally I would drive my 400E in the winter with Nokian studded snows. But I have since given that car to my father. The gf will be driving her E320 this winter as well. I probably should get her a set of snows soon...

alphadeltaromeo, the best way to refinish the plastic is to take it to a good body shop. You might find the cost more reasonable than you would think. I had all the plastic on my 400E painted (bumper cover, side skirts, rear facia, and door/fender plastic) for around $400, cash deal. And that was from a very high quality body shop.

I absolutely love this car so much, I want it to last a lifetime. They dont and probably never will engineer them like this again. To me, its like owning a piece of engineering history.

a friend of mine bought a 240D at the factory in 1977 and the guy made a big deal out of showing him around, they were quite proud of this new 123 style 240D. They told him that 60 lbs of paint is used on the body, not including the under coat. No wonder those old car shine up so well
