Electronic shift control? Wiring DiagramHelp

So I think I forgot the controller for the electronic throttle position for my electronic automatic (1982 300SD Drive train in a Jeep)

The automatic thinks it is at full throttle so it only shifts if you lift off the throttle and any more then 1/4 throttle and down shifts.

Anyone have a wiring diagram for these automatics (like to rig up a system where I pick throttle position).

My Manual only covers the manual linkage transmission and tells me to go to my dealer (hahahaha love to see there face when I drive this thing in!!!!)

Everything running well (need more cooling and EGT gauge winter projects) Rig is back in Vancouver so 6 months to upgrade!
Cheers

The early 300SD didnt have electronic shift control, but I know for the w140 SD has electronic shift control. Its controlled by vacuum.

AS for the throttle postion its not controlled by electronics either with no pcm.

Electronic shift control started appearing in the late 80's and 90's and now is common on a lot of cars.

So your best bet is setup the powertrain to the way it was orginally engineered.

I think it had a electronic throttle position sensor that the linkage turned on the firewall inside (behind the gas pedal) I did not keep this (opps if it existed, memory fails me now).

if it is only vacuum it is an easy fix. However, it was a 1982 and did not have the mechanical linkage.

????? I have no idea!!! I think it was electronic as well, but this would not be the first time I was wrong (or the last!)

Nothing in a 140.134 transmission is electronic. Gear selection, shift modulation and kickdown are as in the 126 Diesels from 86-91.

Unless thedjjack wired the kickdown switch to be permanently engaged or the wire to the transmission is grounded, I'd guess the bowden cable is set too tight.

"I'd guess the bowden cable is set too tight."

Good call on the Bowden cable being too tight (I had to flex the cable around my linkage and intake etc (I will adjust).

As for electrical I have, no electrical at all hooked up. My 1963 truck has no reverse lights so I did not wire them, Neutral start switch is not hooked up (I just make sure to be in neutral or park prior to firing).

What electrical is on these transmissions? the old injector linkage use to go to the firewall (but it did not have mechanical pull down to the transmission I have seen in my repair book).

(also, anyone make a manual shift body for this transmission so it goes in the gear you select and only what you selected (would be ideal for my application)).

Thanks for the help everyone!!!!

David

Neutral safety switch and the kick down switch. The tranny is completely mechanical in operation, it doesn't need electricity to function.

the shifting points isnt controlled by a module and solenoids like a lexus true but theres more electronic components to the transmission then you think.

I am not sure what I have... More use to American transmissions. What do you need to know and where do I find it?

In the morning I will take some photos and see if I can find some numbers

Thanks again I love this group!

This leads to something I've been wondering about. Did anyone ever find an honest source for the transmission manuals?
