Personal Mercedes Consultant

What a load of hot air.

http://portland.craigslist.org/clk/cto/938317632.html

There's No Doubt - Buying a Mercedes Is Exciting

But just like all used cars, you could get stuck
with one that has serious issues (Car-Fax doesn't tell
the complete story) and when it's a Mercedes-Benz, that
can send you into the poor-house in a hurry.

Don't Get Stuck With a Lemon

I'm a Personal Mercedes-Benz Consultant and I perform a
variety of services for Mercedes owners, including helping
soon to be Mercedes owners get the right automobile.

For a very affordable fee (what's the cost of buying the
wrong Mercedes?), I can give you peace of mind, value for
your dollar and the automobile that's going to be everything
a Mercedes should be.

Contact me today for more details and to schedule a no-pressure
consultation so I can help you locate the right vehicle at the
right price...yes, I'll negotiate for you too.

We should flood this guy with emails...

If he has the qualifications to do on sight PPI's, then perhaps his "consultant" services would be of value. Judging from all the hot air in his ad, though, I doubt he's a qualified mechanic.

I recently got a PPI for the Excelsior purchase at the Kansas City Mercedes dealer for $125.00. That's the only "Mercedes Consulting" I need. Its easier than ever with the internet to find these cars.

Send him a pic of a MB and say "what can you tell me about this car?"

Gone Too Far (Too Much?)

WTF is next, paying some other kind of self proclaimed "Consultant" (Idiot) to
drive the Mercedes and text you a "Write up" of the experience for you to
vicariously enjoy?

I still can't get over some of the MB dealers having "Sales Consultants" to
provide an interface between the customer and "SALES WEASELS"?

Depends on his experience.

If he's got some, his efforts might be quite valuable to a person who has never purchased one of these vehicles. Many forum members have made marginal or poor purchases due to rose colored glasses and lack of knowledge. If a second, knowledgable set of eyes were to look at the vehicle, the results might be quite different.

You're all over him due to the rather slick marketing. Seperate the marketing from the product..........it might be worthwhile for certain people.

Several years ago, I used to do this for luxury motorcoaches.

I was paid $750/day plus expenses, and buyers flew me to locations around the country to do PPIs. I never had a complaint, most of my clients sent me postcards from vacations for years in thanks for my services. These people were buying a very complex and expensive vehicle about which they might know little more than that they wanted one.

For a $3500 used diesel 'Benz there might not be much risk, but for ten or twenty times that, or a special / limited-production vehicle which is only worth the price if correct and unmolested, and a buyer who has more money than time to research, a skilled and knowledgable buyer's agent can easily be worth his pay.

The question whether he is qualified I can't answer, but if he is qualified, I hope he does well.

This service could very easily pay for itself _if_you_are_not_a_DIY_mechanic_!

Not all people who restore old cars are. From half the questions from new owners on this very forum they could easily have saved themselves a US$1k or 2 by hidden "gotchas". Just think how much not knowing about compression tests could cost. At least $6k for a rebuild.

You may have a very good mechanic but if they are not very knowledgeable about these vehicles their PPI may not be worth much.

If the guy is charging $250 or so IMO it is a a very valuable service. The difference in a car that needs new shocks versus one that doesn't is that much. Or compare (using the craigslist description) one that just "needs a freon recharge" versus a complete A/C system. If you aren't familiar with the MB system and its weaknesses even if you have a lot of experience getting your hands dirty you may not know exactly where the problem is or what the expenses should be. Are those shifting problems due to a vacuum leak/low fluid/Bowden cable or do you need a new transmission? How many people post here because they don't know? Are they all idiots now because they turned to someone else for help?

Mucho "Smoke and Mirrors"

What really gets me is there is no mention of this "Consultants" qualifications.
AND no mention of Her/His LIABILITY [What kind/ How much is H/H BONDED for,
by WHOM]

If I'm paying someone for a "Professional" service...
AND I have to do "Due Diligence" on them...

It reads more to me like he's matching your purse and shoes with the right "style" Mercedes. And since when do these cars appreciate?

and the accomplishments you've
achieved in life, it'll also appreciate in value.

From his pdf brochure:

(A perusal of his site tells that what you are paying him for, is to go shopping with him, to go and "rice out" your Mercedes Benz

1. What kind of image do you want to project?

2. How would you like others to view you?

3. Do you prefer bold, brash, muscular and athletic, or subtle, refined and understated?

If you don't know a quality body kit, performance upgrade, or interior
appointment from an inferior one, or the qualified technicians to install them,
seek the help of a Personal Mercedes Consultant.

You guys here in Diesel Discussion would be all over this poser before you threw him under the bus and kicked him to the curb. It would probably be a Felony for him to pick up a wrench.

wow, you guys sound like a bunch of hens and haters. Is this a beauty shop or what?
I guess I'll stick to Benz World. This is the first post Ive seen here and its already dumb drama over some hump who had an idea.

But as a side note, I have a business too and I rely on marketing that gets people's attention...I wouldn't call it slick.

I agree with Brain Carlton about you just not liking the marketing. Don't hate because you didn't think of it...its below you.

I don't need his service for my E55 because I know what to do and if you do too, then you guys don't either.
