Where does the brake paste go?
Hello - I'm right in the middle of changing my brake pads (got my rotors resurfaced too). I got the pbr Deluxe advanced pads and they came with these metal clips that clip to the back of the pads. Does the brake paste (grease) go on the brake pad sandwiched between it and the clip or does it go on top of the metal clip? Sorry for the simpleton question, but this is my first brake job ever on this car. I did a search and couldn't find anything on this...Thanks.

I grease up the back of the pad, where it contacts the piston, and the top and bottom edges, where it contacts the caliper.
but not on the friction surface. if it has shims, the grease goes to the caliper side. usually shims get glued to the pads.

Got the front brakes done. Now I'm trying to do the rears but I hit a brick wall trying to remove the rotors. They just wont budge! I already removed the calipers and the allen screw... is there a trick to removing the rear rotors for my model year? I've been pounding on the rotors with a rubber mallet but they ain't budging, I don't want to brake anything.

Good point. Then they should just come off, but you may need to persuade it off with a mallet.
Pic shows brake pad lube points.

as implied, the e-brake is in that hub built into the rotor. It is the old drum type brake.

Well, after a severe pounding on the rear rotors they're finally off. However, on the last one, I forgot to take off the allen screw

I'd use the rotor as is, you are correct the lug bolts hold everything together. If you decide to replace the rotor you should replace both sides, they are only sold in a set anyhow.
Oh yes. you didn't warp the rotors while pounding on them I hope? Oh, take that back, I think you're replacing the rotors in which case it won't matter if they got bent. Incidentally the rear pads tend to make noise more than fronts, so a liberal application of grease to the pads is necessary esp with other than OE pads

on lots of cars the rotor is ONLY held on with the wheel.
