You've just gotta wonder sometimes about folks....If they don't even know the series of their car --- someone should just tell em, it's only worth $500 - hand to to em, and take the car.

Oh - if it was only that easy....

Don't you know the Florida way of teaching numbers? 3=5, 5=6. So now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go outside and get something out of my 500D.

Nope. It's a 350SL. He states it in the body of the ad and the picture of the trunk bears it out.

I'll take that '71 300SEL 6.3

I've heard those 6.3's pulled like a freight train, even in a relatively heavy car.

Thumbs up 1972 350sl

Neat ! he's selling two of them and maybe you'd get enough to build one but far more likely is that both are seriously rusty , bummer as the 350SL's are ' pre smog ' and the Bosch D-Jet fuel injection is easily tweakable for more performance in case the stock power isn't enough .

I love these cars , the SLC's make better fast drivers tho' .

The '71 300SEL 6.3 , amazingly these often turn up in Pick-A-Part yards in So. Cal.. and NO ONE wants them so they get stripped & scrapped , more's the pity as they really are rocketships with good road maners .

Silver Black 6.3 would be a definite match for my 6.9.

Nate, are you serious that people are dumping 6.3's in the yards??! I see a lot of W108's but never a 6.3.

Unhappy Sadly , It Is So

Not to say a " lot " but two or three every year , maybe more , unrusted but tatty originals in most cases , been sitting old man's cars abandoned after one too many no starts or the old person dies and no one bids on it as it's filthy...

you know the drill if you're in The Auto Trade...

Pisses me off a lot but I cannot save 'em all and I'm a Dieselhead anyways .

I just know and appreciate good , fast European flavor road rockets .

The really bad thing about most P-A-P yards is : if it's in the front near the fence , you can buy it but once in the rows , forget it ~ I've offered $2,000.00 ca$h for an oldie , more than they'll ever make off parts and scrap metal but no .

I see SL's , Corvettes , old Porsches , the list goes on .

Although I made money hand over fist when I ran a VW junkyard
it's a bear breaking up prefectly good automobiles .

Nate if you DO find any more, pull the rear levelling valves under the rear axle and the valves at the front. They're worth saving and not to mention worth some money too even if they're just cores. It's a shame if they're tossed out for such fine cars.
