Electric plug/cord for block heater 300 DT
Mercedes 300 gurus,
Looking for some help in the ease or not of replacing the plug/cord that powers the block heater. Is it something I can swap out from a parts (cord only) or do I have to replace the entire unit. It was severed, plug is off with about 1.5 foot of wire, remaining wire still attached to heater. Looking for any advice/counsel that can lead to fixing it. Thanks, Tim |

The cord is separably replaceable. If the damaged cord is a factory cord, there's a cap that screws into/onto/over the block heater itself. You unscrew the cap, then unplug the cord. Aftermarket cords just unplug. Least expensive fix is to remove the damaged cord stub, graft on a new cord w/ line plug and replace. Factory replacement cords are about $70, come with cap and heat insulation, etc. Aftermarket cords are much less expensive.

I just wired a new plug end on to mine. It cost $3 or so. You could always solder more wire on first if it is too short now.
