96 e300d

Replaced all fuel lines and delivery valve copper washers and seals one at a time put intake back on and car runs extremely rough with a lot of smoke and with a bad knock does anybody have any ideas? Need car for next Monday?

You should make the title more descriptive. I think I've now seen several threads with this same title.

This is a delicate job that requires utmost cleanliness & proper torquing of the IP elements. You also don't want to take out any parts from the IP that you don't need to. It's hard to say what exactly you did wrong without having observed the job. Other than going back and redoing everything, all you can really do is try to isolate the knock to a single cylinder if it's just one (by slowly loosening each injector line - wear goggles), and then redoing the corresponding IP element.

I cleaned the top of the pump before I started the job and did the valves one at a time and only removed the spring and washer with parts from the dealer torqued everthing to spec the only thing is I took all the lines off but left them in the pairs if one happened to have gotten crossed would the car run?

No it wouldn't. That's why I think some dirt may have got in there or there might be an internal leak. Some temporary knock at idle is fairly normal after doing the IP seals, but once the fuel starts flowing evenly the engine should run smooth with no smoke. Did you try to run it for a while?
