Can someone tell me what this piece is for?

I don't recall seeing it on my old lights when I took them off.

What is that kit? I need the clip to the left of the item in question. All the ones in the wrecking yards as broken.

I got mine at buy mb parts, but I'm sure any of the online places would have it. Was about $12 per side.

This explains why my Depos don't want to fit in too snugly with the screws..I needed all these clips!

Good to know that the piece in question is not needed; I was getting confused as to where it was supposed to mount to.
