need info on how many MBs imported when, please

I know someone on the forum has this info, but I cannot for the life of me find it!

I need to know how many w126 300SDs were imported in each year from 1980 to 1985. If possible, it would be a huge help to be able to sort them by port of entry or state of dealership, and even more helpful to be able to sort by color.

My nearly-restored 1983 blue-green metallic 300SD was rear-ended last Friday, and is surely totalled. God bless the Mercedes Benz of that era -- without that "the-crumple-zone-is-the-other-car" engineeering, I would not be typing this now.

Here in the south, in nearly 6 years of looking at Ds and SDs, I have only seen 3 in this color on the road (2 SDs -- mine included -- and one SEL) and two 300Ds in boneyards. The Dallas dealership parts desk guys tell me mine is one of two they ever see.

While I understand this shade of green is somewhat more comon in the north, the rust issue makes those less than desirable. I'm meeting with the other guy's insurance appraiser (he was careful to inform me that he's NOT an adjuster!), and would like to be able to demonstrate how unique this gorgeous car was.

Yes, I have all my receipts and records for the new front end, new AC system, new interior, etc., so I'm loaded for bear as far as that's concerned. However, there are a jillion silver and blue SDs (and a few gold) out there for sale for not much, so I'd like to add the color issue into the mix.

Thanks, guys --

Sunny

Thanks!

Where'd you find that? Any idea how many in '83?

Sunny

Not what you were looking for .... but I remember seeing this page before:

And I KNOW, I've seen this type of statistics for that included my 300SDL......but WHERE?

Contact MB Classic center or MB USA. They should be able to give you the exact figures.

IIRC, all W126 300SDs made were destined for North America only.

Classic Center -- NOT!

Called there -- I may have gotten the token fool, but he told me they didn't keep that data. I was shocked. I can get a datacard for my car from Germany, but they can't tell me about these cars in general?
