A Hemi would not work without massive frame work. Thats a really small truck there.

Right, an inline would almost be a must.

Most of these old Willys were use for the drags. any of you remember the gassers at the drags? straight axles, skinney little front tires and massive slicks on the rear.
My bro in law has a 41 with a Chevy 350 with a Jimmy Blower. damn that thing is loud and fast. his is all steel cab like the 39 above. these are rare and body parts are big $$$$. It is amazing that this 39 is virgin sheet metal and escaped the drag racers of the 60`s. Most Willys seen at the car shows are fiberglass repo`s today. It`s incredable the size of some of the engines shoved under the hoods of these vehicles. So a little 616/617 is peanuts in comparison. Charlie |
But those gassers didn't just use the engine complarment, they would cut the firewall and half the engine would be in the cab.....actually they never used a pickup, they used the sedans and sat in the back seat more or less, for this application moving the firewall would result in a severe lack of footroom,,,,unless you are missing the lower parts of your legs.
