Blower Fuse Blows When Kickdown Switch is Depressed

Any time I am on the freeway and I push the accelator pedal to the floor depressing and activating the kickdown switch the same fuse immediately blows. I don't recall offhand the number of the fuse but it is the one that controls the blower along with a bunch of other things.

Replace it and all is normal. Nothing else seems to blow the fuse other than the kickdown switch.

Any ideas?

Disconnect the kickdown switch and test it.

Also check for wires getting pinched under the accelerator and in the linkages.

Sounds like you've got a short in the kickdown switch or cable.

I know from banging my head against a wall for some time that the kickdown switch is on the same fuse as the blower motor.
Since it only happens when you kick it down, I'd guess you just need to replace the switch itself, which is cheap enough. But it's easy enough (if oyu don't mind reaching under there) to test for resistance on the wiring to the switch. I disconnected mine a while back, and use my hand to manually downshift with the automatic trans selector.
