I've never heard of a 300D UNIMOG... Maybe it's something somebody pieced together...

Most of the "common" UNIMOGS, if there is such a thing, have OM352's or M180's.

I would think they are talking about an OM617 that was transplanted into the gas Unimog 404. The most common transplant in Mog world.
Almost all the diesel Mogs you will run into in the US will be OM352 derivations. If it is not and being parted out please, please tell me how to get in touch with them!!!

Depending on where the transplant was done, it could be a 617 out of a van and not a car. If so, the question still remains as to whether van flywheels are the same as car flywheels. I know there are differences in IP between van 617's and car 617's so it wouldn't surprise me if the flywheel was different.

from the picture he sent it looks like a 300D engine and flywheel. I just wanted to make sure. I asked for a rearward shot to see if it is correct before he pulls it from the engine, but it is in Europe so the time difference means I wont get anything until tomorrow. hopefully it is correct AND he wont want a mint for it. sorry no Unimog, just the motor.

Here's a picture of a flywheel on a 617 that's going into a 404 conversion:
http://www.ki7xh.com/alignment%20tool,%20clutch,%20in%20use.jpg There's also text of the conversion here with details on exactly what was done. If the engine was pulled from a conversion truck, it may have a different flywheel than the sedan. http://www.ki7xh.com/dieseliz.htm

looking at that flywheel picture, that is the same as the 300D. It has the tall outer lip. That area is much smaller on the 240D part. But it looks like the guy that has it wants too much for it with shipping

That flywheel looks thinner than the one I found. The lip face thickness appears to be wider....or at least it appears to be.

the seller didnt send me a pinture yet of a rear view. there is a big chamfer on there that kind of throws off the thickness view in a picture, not sure if thats the issue or not. I think he is not accepting my offer so it is a moot point anyway Thanx

When you're searching for one, the easiest way to determine whether or not it's a 300D flywheel is the weight. A heaping 39lbs.
How much was he asking for it? |
