Did the Engine even cough or attempt to start?

If the car will not start on WD40 how will rebuilding the Fuel Supply/Lift Pump help?

oddly enough the wd40 did not do much but slightly speed the rpm's of the starter (no smoke out the exhaust)

rebuilding pump question

How difficult is it to repair the lift pump? What are the signs of the lift pump going out - or does it go all at once?

Thanks,
Brad

In the 1st pic at the site below in the lower right hand corner you see #428; that is the kit that is being sold. It consist of 2 plastic valves, 2 springs and Copper washers.
It is just a matter of removing the Fuel Inlet Fittings and the Fuel Outlet Fitting and replacing the Valves/Springs back the way that they came out.
On a 123 300D it might be possible to do this while the Supply Pump is still on the Engine.

I barrowed jt20's pic from another thread and added arrows to show the fittings I believe need to be removed to change the valves.

Ok - looked all over fastlane and allpartsexpress and couldn't find the kit. Is this a dealer only item? Considering the age of the car, I'm thinking it couldn't hurt to go ahead and rebuild the pump.

I found it:
