Broken vacuum fitting. '85 W123

Hi,

I just acquired a new vacuum leak. It's one of the two small vacuum nipples on the check valve to the brake booster. It's the one closest to the booster.

Can I just plug the hole and "T" off of the other nipple?

Thanks

That all depends on the destination of the vacuum... and how much of an orifice there is... it should be OK though. take a pic and those familiar with the 85 will chime in.

a new one from fastlane is 24 bucks...I think most non-emission related vacuum consumers use that line.

It's the nipple on the right in the picture at Fastlane. The hole is about 1/8" but I am not positive if the check valve is to the booster side of both fittings.

It finally warmed up enough to look at closer. It looks like about 1/4" in the body, there is a .5mm restriction. I drilled in the body about 3/16" with a 1/8" drill and drilled the nipple out to 1/8". I reinforced the break with a short piece of 1/8" aluminum tubing and glued it back together with a special polypropylene primer and glue from Loctite.. I guess I will see if it holds. At least the engine shuts off with the key now and the tranny seems to shift normally.

good for a temp fix, but I'm sure it will fail in a short time. I'd snag a new one for when it does.
