Question Looking at a 190D and Have concerns

The owner and I have been sending emails back and forth. I received this from him
Quote: " i think that the fuel system and the lines need to be cleaned or replaced since it "misses" when it runs."

The car is a 2.2l 5spd

Is there other causes of missing . I have done searches and replacing fuel lines seems to cure the problem .

Should I be concerned of other problems? I am very mechanical inclined but funds are low at present.

More info is needed, but "misses" would seem to indicate a fuel delivery issue. Might be a cheap fix like biocide in the fuel tank and filter change, or may be more expensive like new injector nozzles ....

I am not familiar with Mercedes diesels but have been driving my Dodge Cummings for over 170,000 miles and worked in a garage and did serviced a lot of diesel trucks in the mid 80's.

The Mercedes I'm looking at has 180,00 miles

Considering possible injectors. Would nozzles fix it or would injectors be needed. Replacing injectors with rebuilt at $51 ea ($204 / set of 4 )would that be the worst case?

Thank You

Went to look at the car and test drive. It had some difficulty starting(35 deg), I could tell it had not been started in a while. Once it got running idling was difficult until it got warm. Then we took it for a test drive. The engine would smooth out over 2200 rpm. When we got back from a 1.5 mile test drive it would idle.

The Good :

All new brakes, ball joints, tie rod ends and all four shocks.

The BAD:

Sun roof stuck open about an inch and sitting outside. Needs new brake master cylinder. Passenger window opens about a inch ( bad regulator). Needs paint (80's pealing clear coat)

Scary:

Odometer does not work but the speedo does. Really no idea how many miles are on the car.

How much should I offer?

Lets see: body bad, brakes bad, interior soaked, unknown mileage:

A donor car for a five speed transplant IMO- so say about 800.00 or less. Do I smell WVO?

The master cylinder is bad not the brakes. Rebuilt calibers new hoses and new pads on all four corners.

Interior is dry with no signs of mold or mildew( I'm very allergic to mold, I would have known if there was mold). Center console wood varnish is weathered.

Forgot it has a new windshield.

No Radio in the dash (I've got one that will fit in the garage)

Only a little rust around rear jack points. All body panels are in similar condition so it has not been in any accident requiring paint.

I was thinking of offering around $800 BUT NOT GOING OVER $1000
