Tapped & Threading Fuel Fittings (606)
As I have been learning on this site, I have noticed on some the 606s, some folks have gotten rid of the oringed fuel fittings with threaded ones. What tap(s) did you use to create the threads?
Thank you. |

I believe you are mistaken; at least to the extent that someone actually did this.
There was a thread where someone wanted to epoxy them or some such.....not sure what he planned to do if his orings failed again or if the SOV or lift pump ever went bad???? Once you've done this once (replaced orings) it is pretty quick to do again by moving the windsheild washer bottle out of the way and reaching up under the IM. Mine were last done 3 yrs ago and haven't been touched since.

Warp,
No one has tapped any fittings. This subject came up because of a running production change in one of the plastic fuel lines - originally it was a push fit O ring, but it got changed to a banjo with a hollow bolt. The hole in the IP is already threaded to receive the bolt. Surprising but true. If you search this subject you'll find diagrams, etc. Rgds, Chris W. '95 E300D |
