Rotella "synthetic" back to $19 at walmart

for a while now, wallyworld has had it up to 22/24.00, but now it's back down to 19.00... we'll see how long. M1 5/40 is around 26/gallon.

I just recently bought it for $19/gallon too. I never go to WalMart, but remembered reading here that they sell motor oil. All the parts places were out of synthetic when I needed it so I went to WalMart. I was very surprised at how comprehensive the auto section is.

I'll probably continue buying oil there. Nitrile gloves were pretty cheap there too.

A week and a half ago at the local farm supply store (Fleet Farm- which is always the cheapest I can find M1) had Rotella Blue gallons at just shy of $23 and M1 was at ~$41 for a box of 6. Both were up $1/quart from my last oil change in the fall.

They also had a sign stating that Mobil was not delivering products due to a shortage or something like that. At one FF they were all out of M1 and at another they didn't have much in stock.

My local WallMart is back to $19 for Rotella syn too. They have not had Mobil 1 Turbo Diesel Truck oil for at least 6 months.

I bet they really enjoy this free advertising.............

Here locally, you might be greeted by yellow "Police Line Do Not Cross" tape.

They can't sell it cheap enough for me to buy it from them.

Auto Zone Rotella Synthetic 5W40!

Auto Zone is presently running a special detailed in its' January 15-February 11, 2009 in store flyer - $2 off Rotella Synthetic 5W40 gallons regular price $19.99 so its cheaper than Walmart and probably closer. And better still if you have an Auto Zone rewards card:

"From the rewards website:For each single in-store qualified purchase of $20.00 or more, you will earn one (1) Credit. For every 5 Credits earned within 6 months, you will receive a Reward good for $20.00, which can be used for purchases made at a participating AutoZone® store."

You can stock up and after spending $100(5x$20) you can get a $20 gift card! Or another way of looking at it is another almost $4 off the original purchase of a gallon of $17.99 oil and a $2.01 item (maybe an inline plastic fuel filter, matching quart of oil, etc.)! Good luck!

Rotella

I noticed at the walmart here tonight that several of the regular rotella T 15W40 2.5 gallon had the foil seals removed and loose fitting caps....and spill marks on the container sides leading from the cap....

Looks like someone had swapped the oil with something cheaper....

Someone spoke of this on another thread and it looks like this is true....

Beware at walmart....

The only gallon of rotella synthetic did have the cap intact with the little break-away, anti- tamper ring in place so it was probably ok.....

Still cheaper at autozone. 19.99 every day plus right now its $2 off every gallon. I stocked up and saved $4 on my next oil change, which is about 8 months away.

Walmart is a horrible place. I'd rather spend the extra $ to go elsewhere.

I happened to be browsing at one recently though and saw their extreme shortage of Mobil 1 products! Wow! The shelves were bare with a little sign from Mobil apologizing and blaming hurricane Ike for the supply disruption. There was no TD&T 5w40 to be seen....and most of the other grades were sparse as well. Autozone seems to have most of it in stock, but there's a sign there advertising a mail in rebate for $10 on your next purchase of 5qts or more.....guess I get to save $10 next time I change the 300E's oil! I already have my rebate form printed out.

A couple of years ago, I bought a case of quart bottles in a sealed carboard container (brand is not important). Opened the case and found all the bottles filled with used oil.
Apparently some crook bought a case, put the used oil back in the bottles and glued the cardboard back (on close examination after opening, you could tell the box had been reglued), and returned the oil to the store for a refund. The store now check the seals on refunds.

The last Shell Rotella gallons I bought in the new style containers did not have foil seals. Can't remember if I got it from WalMart or Pep Boys. It's hard to find anywhere but WalMart around here.

Question walmart problems

The quart Rotella bottles were ok....also the new style syn. Rotella gallons....

It was the large 2.5 gal jugs that had been tampered with...about 30% of the stack......they were mixed in with the unopened lot.....

2nd time within a year I have noticed this....

I now buy from the parts houses.....

Makes you wonder what kind of oil all these fast change places are putting in customers vehicles.....the truth is probably ugly......

I took a company vehicle to get the oil changed at one of these popular joints....
I requested oil from the unopened quarts they had on the shelf.....
The friendly fellow told me it was 15 bucks extra to use quart oil instead of the mislabeled swill they pump out of unknown drums....
He still tried to talk me out of using the quarts even though I wanted them...

I paid it...last oil change they did for us......

The lengths people will go to to save $$/commit a crime is crazy. With all that time and effort they could have gone and EARNED the money honestly.
