how bad is this? (oil in the turbo intake)
I noticed this when I was taking the engine out of my 300SD (to perform my engine swap). I'm guessing this is probably most of the cause behind the white smoke I get until she's warmed up? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L9O16wQ5u6U |

How is it getting there? The oil separator should be taking care of that before it reaches the turbo unless that oil is coming thru the turbo seals.

More than like oil seperator. Pull it and reseal it. White smoke on start is probably poor ignition (unless it smells like coolant).

I have the same mess on my om603, a little bit of oil inside and a mess of oil on the turbo and engine. I lifted the vent hose from the valve cover and almost no blowby was seen. The turbo worked fine, except for the oil on the outside. |

The oil separator is located in the air filter housing on the W123. It is a vortex separator allowing oil to fall back into the oil pan and air to keep flowing. It has a clamped on plastic top that can be resealed with RVT. No clue on your engine though
