Question EGR location....? Better acceleration?

I want to plug up the EGR tube on my 85 300D (California Edition).

Where is EGR located? Is it one end of the Y shaped rubber piece which connects the top of the air filter, the air duct that feeds into the turbo and the top of the engine? It is not a valve mechanism, is it?

Has anyone done this? Am I on the right track with location of this thing? Pros Cons of doing this

Thanks guys, I appreciate your help
