SDL Rebuild - What is this part?

I'm not sure what this is. It was in my baskets of engine parts for my SDL.

It may come to me eventually what it is, but right now, I have no idea.

From the other side.

Not really sure on the 603, but it does look like a lifting bracket for the back of the engine..........similar to the 617.

I think this is an internal part. It has engine oil on it. You can see that there was something bolted to it.

I'd like to put the oil pan and head on tomorrow. I don't want to leave something out. Although it's usually evident that something is missing.

But then, then whole engine was covered in engine oil. It is possible it is an outside part.

I don't know much about the 603, but those holes look to small to be a hoist bracket IMO.

That's not one of the bits that holds the turbo halves together is it?

The turbo is off of course, but it is not apart.

It does have that round shape needed to go around something like a turbo though.

Your "from the other side" pic appears to be the same pic as the first....

Could that be a bracket for the exhaust? I'm guessing not if it's allen head.

Looks like a mounting bracket, perhaps for a power steering pump or something of the sort.

IIRC that's the bracket that holds the cruise actuator to the block. It attaches to the block just aft of the IP.
