Where does this Aux Coolant sensor go?

Hello,

I have attached an image of the item.

Looked on the forum and the service manual, but I could not find a definite answer. What I gathered is that this sensor is located on IP side of the engine closest to the vacuum pump can someone verify this for me? The sensor(s) currently on the engine look nothing like this new part.

Thanks,
Taylor

The one between glowplug #2 and #3 and the the one on top of the thermostat housing looks the same on my car but looks different with the picture you provided.

On a 617 diesel the coolant gauge sender (for on the dash) is on the side of the engine between the #2 and #3 glow plugs.

The blower-cut-out sensor switch for the klima is on the thermostat/egr housing area on the front passenger side of the engine.

To be more specific this sensor is the "Cooling Fan Sensor; Auxiliary Fan Switch; 212 Degree F"

One person says it goes on the water pump another says between #2/3 GP

Only the W116 300SD (79-81) had that switch. W123 and W126 models don't have one.

It covers lots of models and shows many part options not available.

Nope, wrong sensor. That is the heater lockout switch.

The switch is used only on W116 models, is outside the thermostat housing and is circled in the first picture attached. The second picture is of an 84 300SD like the OP, note the lack of switch.
