What maintence items should be address ith 184,000 miles
I just purchased a 1989 190D auto with 184,000 miles. The oil and all filters(oil, fuel, air) have been changed. Transmission has been serviced. New fan belt.
I want to get new nozzles for the injectors. I'm going to replace a couple glow plugs that aren't working. What other items should I Address before making it my daily driver? Does the timing chain need service? Fan belt tension?

go about removing those glow plugs carefully - spray them with penetrating oil a few times starting a few days before you want to remove them. Work them back and forth as you are taking them out - if it starts to lock up - STOP, soak more and try a little heat, keep working it back and forth... your engine isn't like mine and should not have the issues mine does - but you can never be too careful.
I would replace all the glow plugs at once - and use a good brand like bosch or beru - don't use champion or autolite! I would check suspention steering and brakes as well as wheel bearings carefully before putting into daily service....

Suspension
Get it up on jackstands or a lift and take a good hard look at the suspension. I'm not as familiar with what the usual wear items are on the 190 but with that age and mileage you should probably be expecting to replace the control arm bushings and possibly the ball joints and some tie rod ends. Of course this is one of those 'while your in there' jobs so once you yank a control arm to replace a ball joint or bushing you should really just replace them all so you only have to take it apart and visit the alignment shop once.
Also check the motor and transmission mounts along with the flex disks on the driveshaft.

I forgot that I am doing brakes all the way around. The suspension has been checked and is tight(ball joints, bushings and tie rod ends). The shocks and struts are not original and in good shape.
