1992 300D -> 90' OM602 swap

Is there any differences at all I should be aware of?

I know the oil pan changed through the years, not sure about anything else.

The '90 wastegate is pressure-actuated, '92 is vacuum operated.

I thought they were the same. Just redesign of the switching system.

The 90 having a wastegated turbo is a good thing. It means the EGR can be eliminated and the computer has no control over engine performance.

The 90 does have a vacuum EDS controlled wastegate, like 91-93.

The main differences between 90 and 92 are the EGR and overboost protection system. The 90-91 has three vacuum transucers, one each for the wastegate, EGR and flapper valve in the intake. The 92-93 has two transducers and a set of switchover valves for the EGR or the flapper valve, I don't remember which. The 92-93 cars also have no overboost protection past the vacuum controlled wastegate. There isn't a switchover valve between the manifold and the ALDA like there is on the 90-91 cars.

('Just so I'm Clear) You're doing a '90 into a '92 chassis?

It is a "Drop In" direct fit replacement.

BOTH the '92 and the '90 OM602(.962) have the EDS[Electronic Diesel System]
controlled Vacuum Operated Wastegate...

No big deal to swap a Pressure Operated Wastegate in and be free forever more of enslavement by the EDS (Computer)

GSXR is the Pathfinder for this "UpGrade"
Here is the Post. Long,but most informative with Part numbers:
