Just a variation of the old Junkers/Fairbanks-Morse engines, like the Deltic.

Except the marine Fairbanks-Morse engines that I've run had a crank top and bottom, two cycle, 20 pistons in 10 cylinders, and 2000 HP. Those engines are very sweet, nothing "junkey" about them, much more pleasant than a Cat or Jimmy to be in the engine room with.

Not sure if you're joking or not, but 'Junkers' is a reference to the airplane that used a diesel engine like the Fairbanks-Morse with opposing pistons and two cranks.
