Search for my Diesel

I hope this isn't too selfish, but I'd like to hear what all you experts think about cars that come up in my search. I'd like to contribute, but as I am new to the community and to the car, I'm trying to spend this time doing my research.

I'm looking for a diesel, preferably one from the early 80s, and I am NO LONGER considering a switch to veggie oil. My latest finds on CL will be posted in this thread. Please feel free to comment!

This one's needs a replacement transmission, but the owner HAS one and it is included in the price.

a 5-spd trans that let go @ 130k??

look for signs of body damage, that hood looks funny

$1,000 would be great if you can put the trans in yourself and the seller can verify the mileage.

I refuse to believe it has a 5 speed and includes a replacement 5 speed. US models did not come with them.

I asked him for more pictures and more information. And hopefully I'd be able to either put it in myself or have help from a friend (dad is a MB mechanic).

I'll also look into that. If he send me more pics then I'll check out the engine/shifter inside just to make sure.

LOL - I wondered the same thing. No mention of which type transmission.

I wish I had an 84. Desirable year. Condition matters most, though.

No. Too many progressives. They don't do reverse.

Is that rust damage just aft of the front left tire on the body panel? Looks like some sort of injury anyway...

And if you buy it, I have an engine you can buy perfect for the swap! And I certainly wont charge the $1000 a "reputable" salvage yard would
