Do you ever feel like the automatics always seem to pull better? Something to do with the torgue converter or something. Mine is a manual and I swear the autos have more guts to the point where I have thought about converting back to an auto (C6 & gear vender). Just cannot bring myself to get into an electric auto. I have always liked my truck to sound like a truck.

They do pull better off the line, thats one of the advantages of a torque converter. Once the converter locks though, the manual has the efficiency advantage absorbing less power.
I hated the ones with the dual mass flywheel though. The single mass ones felt more sturdy. |

OP,
Go with the diesel. Your overall operating costs will be less, and, the diesel garners more $s on sale day.

Agreed, buy the diesel, you'll be glad you did. Especially when RUG gets up to $4 gallon again. Resale on the gas trucks still hasn't recovered from the last time.

thank you for all the replys thats why i love this place! shes reading it, she said i can get it!!! haha i just need to sell one of my toys. i guess theres an up and down for everything. ive done my research on the new powerstrokes and IMO i prefer the older 7.3 for reliability reasons, plus this truck is a quad cab lariat. with immaculate service records (every fuel fill up is written in a notebook as well as tire pressure on those dates) doesnt get much better than this!

In case anyone was wondering what a DMF is here is a great video clip on how they work. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YnaXB8q3uzQ

I swapped my DMF for a LUK single. Much better but is does have more gear noise and does not like backing up. Grabs funny.

Yep I removed the DMF in my 2007 6.7L Cummins because the stock clutch in the new Cummins pickups does not cut it. In fact they derated the tune, 305 HP manual trans. vs. 350 HP for the automatic because the civility influenced design or the OEM clutch would not hold. The I6 has more and earlier torque for a clutch to hold than a V8. My 6.7L makes over 1000 ft/lbs. at 1000 rpm but the gear rollover noise caused by occilations without the DMF is such that I have to shutdown if I go to a drive-up window.
