Still thinking.

What is the rationale for the 12 point head on the shock bolts?

^^Large degree of ratchet travel?

A thin walled 12 point socket is smaller in diameter than a six point socket.

I couldn't get my six point socket to work in that space.

a gearhead 10mm wrench will work too.

Muffler Hangers

I've had a run of after-market exhaust hangers (107 492 00 82) that have failed much too quickly (lasted less than 1 year). I have located another after-market source that offers both a hard (shore = 63) and a soft version (shore = 55) of this hanger. Which will last longer? Does anyone know of a source of hangers that are durable other than OEM Mercedes?

I seem to recall trying a gear head wrench and it was too fat to fit. If a standard socket won't fit, how can a gear head?

My bad, You are correct

On a normal installation, you will need a 12 pt 10mm socket. Although, I did manage it recently with a rachet type box wrench since I lost my 12 pt socket. But only on one of the bolts. It was too tight of a fit on the other bolt.

So far, Sears is the only place I could find the 12 pt 10 mm socket. Defintely a must have in your tool box.

No possibility that you can get a gearwrench in that space.

I can get my gearhed wrenchs in the small provided to remove my shocks, was looking at them the other day while putting my fender on. I usually loosed them with a 1/4 drive 12pt 10mm if i havent loosen them before since they have blue lockite on them.
