WOW!! Scored big time today

I have been kind of looking for the past couple of years for a MB Spring Compressor. Eventually Iam going to get to the point one will be handy to have.

Since I installed the 4-spd in the 300D, the front end now points to the sky. so looks like some 240D front springs will be in order.
Also with the front sitting high, it messes up the handling of the car at higher speeds.

E-bay always has them, but a little pricy, but not as bad as the german Klann one. these run from $189,95, $15 to $17 shipping on up.

I was watching one that was listed for $99.00 and $16.77. bidding ended at $162.75 yesterday. I was hoping no one would see it, yeah right.

there is one now listed at $99.00, buy now $160.00 shipping $13.66. forget that.

So I check out Craigslist, poking around trying different combinations of words. Mercedes tools. location S.F. Bay area. WOW!!! there is one listed.
E-Mail the guy, give him my phone#, and say Iam interested. now the listing has been up for a week . In 5 Min the guy gives me a call and still has it. he lives about 80 miles north of here, so I tell him, "I`ll be right there".

Two hours later we pull into his driveway. (NO my car isn`t slow, we have 40 lanes of traffic, with ocasional bottlenecks). He hands me the case, it has never been used , he bought for his 87 W124 300D, but since sold the car. said he paid $200.00 for it.

I hand him $75.00 I can`t believe it. I actually have one . WOW!!!
I feel like I stole it. now that Iam home, I feel better, I got over it no guilt.

The only additional cost was 2 burgers, coffee and a milkshake, plus 5 hours and the drive. and the car got an itialian tuneup

crazedlist.org is very handy. It allows you to search multiple CL's but you have to use firefox, which I prefer.

Good find

Dave, this is the first thing I bought off CL, looks like I have some catching up to do

Most of the treasures I bought have been Flea-bay

I have an Accuspray HVLP spray gun, it`s designed to use a turbin that supplies warm dry air. or you can use a regulator off a air compressor to get the pressure down to 6 - 10#. so I have used this set up for a long time with ok results.

I see a 4 stage Accuspray turbin, spray gun with a 8oz cup, 2 qt paint pot, all the hosses and maybe a couple other things listed on E-bay for $700.00. I watch it all week and finally place my bid and get it all. Lady said her husband bought it and later passed away and never used it.
this was about 12 yrs back or better.

Called the Company for some info, and they said all that would have been over $1800.00 new.

so the spring compressor is the second bestest score.

sometimes Iam a day late and a dollar short.
