Where is the fan blower regulator located on a 90 to 93 e300 ?

According to EPC (and if your model is 124.128) the blower regulator is near the blower, that is, under the hood, on the firewall. The windshield wiper must be removed first. The part number is either 124 820 27 10 (without dust filter) or 124 821 21 51 (with dust filter). I don't know which one you have or even if this is correct but it's the closest I can find in EPC.

Ive read that the blower fan regulator will work on my 96 e300d from a 90 to 93 e300. I found a 93 e300 at pick a part but couldnt
find it. I took off the cover of the fan housing but didnt see it. The heat sink should be in the air flow right? (to keep it from over heating ) You said It would be on the firewall under the hood so how does it stay cool?
I would like to try this before spending 180.00 for a new one .

I can't tell exactly where it is from EPC but it should be near the blower.
