1992 300D 2.5 Turbo Diesel

We are having problems with the ac in my wifes 300D, The ac has been working fine for 2 years. Lately it has not cooling very well, so I thought it might be low on freon so I hooked a gauge up to the low side and it was way over 100 psi. That is way past the red danger zone on this gauge, what do you think I should do? Any ideas, thanks. That was with the car off, does it matter if the car was off?

Yes, the compressor must be running to get meaningful readings. When the compressor is off, the pressures in the system will equalize throughout.

I could not wait, went out and checked the low side and it was low. So I put one can of 134 in and it feels better, thanks.
