Swap engine and transmission from 75 240D to 83 240D

I have someone interested in my 83 240D. He was wondering if he could swap the engine and transmission from his 75 240D to my car. I've heard it being done the other way around, putting a newer engine into an older car but not the other way around.
The difference I am aware of between the two is that the 75 has the OM616.916 and my 83 has OM616.912. I've seen some of the differences are that the oil filters are located in different places, the intakes are different and they have different glow plug systems.
Is this something that could be done?

Sounds doable... don't know how many parts may need to be also swapped over but if you have both cars then it should be all good.

I think the oil filter will have to kept w/ the corresponding body. Same intake manifold if EGR is involved.
