Hello all!
I have been rebuilding my AC on a 83 300SD and need a little help. I have removed all old parts, flushed system, put in all new parts (O-rings, compressor, drier, exp. valve, aux fan switch, low pressure switch). Pulled a vacuum and held it there 1 hour. Added can of oil/freeze 12, then some more freeze 12 blah, blah, blah. When I started the car compressor did nothing. Tested for power to compressor and low pressure switch, nothing. Aux fan gets power (and works, jumped it real quick to make sure.) I want to know where to locate the ETR switch so I can test it. Have done a lot of reading and heard there is some people that have found them to be bad. My CC (climate control) unit functions like it should. Since it is the more expensive than ETR I would rather replace ETR first. Thanks so much even if you cannot help (this forum has helped me a lot in the past!) Pictures would be great if anyone has them! |

Look by expansion valve
Quote:
Try looking in the area where the expansion valve is located. It is in the "black air distribution box". Maybe look at a picture of the part at Fastlane to help you recognize it. Good luck Richard

I found it! Looking at the pictures didn't help but I did find it. There is 2 wires connected to it and a capillary tube coming off it going to the evaporator box. I jumped the 2 wires and 'PRESTO' compressor running, freon moving through drier! MB dealer in Cincy had to order the part and it was only $30 and will be in within 2 days! All other sources I found on the web was $39 or more plus shipping.
Thanks for the direction! |
