'91 350SDL LOW WATER LEVEL DASH LIGHT AND AUXILIARY FANS

My low water level light on the dash comes on intermittently even though the reservoir is full but I also discovered that the auxiliary fans are not coming on either. Is there some kind of connection here? What do I birddog first?

Your coolant level sensor which is probably similar to the one in my SDL get's gunked, up corroded and die. I have gotten away with a cleaning a few years back only to have it fail again. If there has ever been any stop leak in the system that really puts the tomb stone on them. I believe it's only a $20 ish part. Do your fans come on when the AC is activated?

Thats one possibility but I have one question ....does it only come on at consistant speeds above 55mph?

I'll change the low coolant level sensor. In the meantime, I changed out the No. 1 fuse for the aux fans and voila, they came on with the A/C working.
Thanks much,
Dick

If it comes on all the time, no big deal, just the sensor.
However If it only comes on at speed, get back to us with the milage and how much oil its consuming.
