New Fuel Filter -----WoW

I changed the main fuel filter this weekend. I have noticed a substantial positive performance difference, throttle response much better, idle's smoother, and I now don't lose any speed at all when going up very steep upgrades.

The filter was changed inside the recommended interval so it was not overdue.

Question for more experienced Dieselers, could beginning to use Redline have caused some of the "junk" to break loose and "clog" the filter. I began adding Redline about 2 months ago with positive results. I then began to suffer subtle performance degradation that was cured with the change in filter.

I expect that you just got a bad tank of fuel. Watch the prefilter closely for foreign matter. If it starts getting dirty, change the prefilter and main filter again.

Good luck,

Thanks Larry

What started this process was having plenty of time to look at the pre-filter while I was changing motor mounts. There was some junk in it, so I swapped it out two weeks ago and did the main fuel filter this past weekend.

Now that you mention it, I did switch from BP to Mobil Diesel in the last month.

The brand probably has little to do with it. What may have happened was your filling up while, or shortly after, the tanker was there filling and stirring the debris in the bottom of the stations fuel tank. If you see the tanker truck at the station or driving away from the station, find yourself somewhere else to get that tank of fuel.

Good luck,
