Fuel guage sender location 250 TD

Hi Guys,
Can somebody help with the location of the fuel guage sender on my MB 250 TD ? I know its on the fuel tank! but how do you get at it without dropping the tank itself? is there a way from the top?

This is for a diesel, but I would think is similar.
