85 turbo diesel boost

ok,i may get reemed for this but need the info.i took 85 cali. model 3.0 td engine and put it in jeep wrangler.i removed egr and alda (thanks to this site).before removing alda i mounted boost gauge and tested car and was getting 5-6 psi of boost in 4th gear.i than removed alda and retest and got 6-7 psi of boost.i didnt get much more smoke than i had before but throttle response is much better and it seems that turbo spools up quicker. my question is what do you guys see for boost psi? is 6-7 psi too low?
another thing engine has around 13000 miles since complete rebuild and injectors were cleaned, pop tested and pressures set 2000 miles ago, turbo has min shaft play and emission testing was done 2 weeks ago (flawless)

remove your intake and see how much gunk is on the inside, clean it then cry about how much is in your head ports

when you take the intake off you will find there is a line on the very back of it running over to the other side of the fire wall

remove the bolt looking thing from the back and ceal it out also as it will be PACKED...

does cali have a bonjo bolt?

The pics may help.

.7 bar is 10.15 psi.
.8 bar is 11.60 psi.

My 1985 300D-T (W123, OM617) CA version peaked at about 13 psi on the boost gauge. That is about where you should be. If the line to the gauge is clean and the gauge is responding correctly (test it with an air compressor that has a variable pressure setting) then you should be getting 10-15 psi. If not, the wastegate on your turbo may be opening too soon. AFAIK, it is not adjustable.

That sounds great. I always thought that the Wrangler needed a diesel. How's she running. Any pics?

shaft play is not an indicator of turbo "health". FYI on any turbocharger there will be a little shaft play, it's supposed to be there.

when you get time please post pics. I love jeeps too but I went a little higher on HP with my swap. I am getting about 15 PSI on my turbo loaded up hill in fourth, I know its a little high but I dont get up there that often

vlado, what an AWESOME swap man! I am working towards doing the same in a Cherokee.

Is it still a 4WD? What tranny did you use? What transfer case did you use and how did you hook it all up?

Pictures, pictures, pictures! We need more PICTURES! If you can't post 'em, email 'em to me and I'll post 'em for you!

wrangler diesel

ok i think i got it figured out this time

[IMG][IMG][/IMG][/IMG]

enjoy.
i tried emailing this pics to you but couldnt upload from my computer, and had to load them up in my album, than do one by one.it took some time but here they are.
i used jeep stock trans and transfer case and made myself adapter plate to fit engine.welded gusets to frame for engine mounts and used mercedes mounts.i dont know a whole lot about theese engines but learning as i go. all in all i see 24-25 mpg over several tanks of fuel in city driving for most part, and i have tested this jeep with 2 gal of fuel on freeway run and got 32 mpg in fifth gear without any wind that day.but couldnt average that over tank full.jeep was getting 13-14 mpg with 4.2 gasser and i think this is great improvement with diesel.i get around 400 miles with tank full and i figure 10% for 31 in tires that i run.i tested this with my wifes stock jetta and jeep odometar is 10% off
