Tranny shifting early from 2nd to 3rd?
My 83 300D starts in 1st gear and shifts around 1.8 to 2.3K rpms depending on how aggressive I am stepping on the accelerator. However the shift from 2nd to 3rd comes very soon thereafter so if I am going up a hill it bogs down in 3rd so sometimes I have to downshift to S to get it into 2nd to go up the hill. Why is this and what can I do to delay the shift from 2nd to 3rd? I played around with the bowden cable to delayed the shifts when it I first got the car this week as it was sluggish in town. Thanks.

I found the shift linkage was misaligned on top of the valve cover after I removed the vc- and the valves were adjusted. No more kickdown , but switch was right.
