i keep forgetting everybody doesn't know what i know.

the car stopped running when my great uncle died. so its pretty much a lack of maintenance. he just stopped driving it when he got his Passat TDI. but there was nothing wrong with it. as in no seizing of the engine.

ITS ALIVE.

threw in the alternator and changed all the filters and cranked. after about 3 seconds it fired right up. drove it around the block.

to say the least. i got it home today under its own power. but its needs a little bit of a tune up. maybe its the old fuel but it idles rough. feels like im riding a horse at stoplights, a sort of rhythmic bumping motion.

some dick gouged the paint on the rear driver side door. but i can live with that, at least for a little while.

A diesel purge would be a cheap way to limit the pornographic nature of your current idle conditions...

NAPA has it everywhere in PA that I've ever seen, I do know dieselgiant sells it online. It's made by Lubro Moly, which is made in the UK if I remember correctly.

Great find man! It's good to see another diesel making it's way back onto the road. Good luck with your new ride!

ya i saw it online, but shipping is expensive to California for stuff like this.

its great to be finally driving another diesel. ever since my TD quit running, (still have it but needs complete rebuild.) ive had to put a huge amount of miles on my 190, not exactly the car for long journeys.

i just put the SDL in the shop to get the transmission checked out. felt like it was slipping.
