They certainly must have. The injector bodies on the 80's injectors were assembled together using threads that have an interference fit elimimating any need for a gasket or o-ring.

All the injectors that went into the om 61x engines were like you state. No o-rings. I think the later ones are the same. But I've never dealt with earlier injectors.
