606 / 617 bell housing bolt pattern
Is the bolt pattern on the 606 block the same as the 617 block? I have a Getrag 5-spd from a 617 that I would like to bolt to a 606 motor.
Thanks. -Martin |

Starter is on the wrong side: driver's side 60x and passenger side 61x.

It positivley will not fit the 606. You are in luck though as it will fit my 616.
![]() The compatability issue has been discussed several times before. It will not work. Drop me a private message if it is surplus to your requirements. I would not like to see you stuck with it. Members should help each other out. ![]() Last edited by barry123400; 08-18-2009 at 07:31 PM. |

I believe that the OM606 shares a bolt pattern with the OM603 and the M102 (190 2.3-16) gas engine.

Thanks for the responses. Sorry, the trans isn't for sale ... yet. I have a 617A that needs a new transmission and I may use the 5-spd.

I am getting to the point of leaving no stone unturned to locate at least one five speed soon. The turbo 617 I am currently using just seems to lack the charater of my 240ds. A change to five speeds would much improve them. When my patience runs short I will make it happen I suppose. Somehow or other they really seem like different cars. Yet both share so many common areas at the same time. |
