Question blinker lights on panel not working, but signals do

I replaced the cluster lights and repaired the odometer in the 300TD this weekend....but after reassembling it, everything works except the turn indicator lights. I replaced those bulbs with ones that seemed to have the same base but were a bit shorter. Still nothing. The flasher relay works, andf the turn signals work, just not the indicators.

I made sure that the sockets were properly positioned, but again, nothing. Hazard or stalk, neither one lights the green arrows...

any ideas?

Did they work before you replaced the bulbs? If so, then I suspect you might have the wrong bulbs and might want to put the old ones back. Those bulbs, especially the high beam indicator, almost never burn out from use.

Just for the heck of it you might want to see if there's a separate fuse just for those dash lights. I had a drivers side high beam out for about a year(I never use high beams) so I decided to replace the headlamp, a no go. I have two whole light units for spares so tried replacing the whole unit, still a no go. Checked my fuse box and low and behold, I have a separate fuse just for the drivers side high beam and dash marker light(high beam).

there is a ground screw between the sections of the cluster, and a small piece of metal sits under it to ground the lights, pull the cluster back out and be sure you didn't forget some random screw...

well, I think nhdoc is right.

I actually went to the dealership this morning and bought replacement sockets for $7/ea - came with the bulbs...popped them in and it worked.

I also got 2 spare bulbs, so I have an extra pair of sockets/bulbs just in case

I did check the ground wire and it was connected - not sure about the fuse....

Anyway, thanks for all the replies......the moral is that if McParts says they don't carry the proper bulb for your application they MIGHT be right......
