1982 300sd stalled in traffic

I just bought a 1982 300sd with a 154000 miles and after fighting with the dmv for 3 days we got to take it out for a ride. We drove around town for an hour or so then stop at the store the car set in the parking lot for about 30 min. when i started it it was running great. We were on our way home when we got stuck in traffic after about 10 min it was running rough. the traffic cleared and we started to move i made it about a half a mile then the car stalled after cranking it over a few times it started we made it about another half a mile and it stalled again i was able to get it into a parking lot where after let it set for half an hour it started up and was running good we made it home without anymore stalling. Where should I start with a purge and replace fuel filters??????

Sounds like experiences I have had recently with clogged fuel filters after changing my new sedan over to b100. Could be old cracked fuel line leaking air into the system.

This is a common test these cars do to see if you really love them or not. Oh, wait, I think I'm mixing that up with Foster parenting.

Check your tank vent for plugging.

Every rough running, no acceleration, won't climb hills that my SD has had has been attributable to clogged fuel filters. I now ALWAYS change them with the oil AND before trips longer then 300 miles if I'm nearing oil change time. It takes less than 5 minutes to change both filters AND is more convenient when done at home instead of on the side of the road. Be sure to fill the spin on filter with fuel before installing. Keep an extra set in the trunk along with wrenches to crack the injector lines and screw drivers to install filters.
