vacuum leak, I want to isolate door locks
Hello,
I thought I was pretty familar with my vacuum system, then I blew out the drivers door vacuum locking accuator or check valve, and now I am totally lost. Anyhow, can I plug all of the cabin vacuum lines and be able to shut down the engine, have the tranny shift correctly, and still have the rest of the vacuum system function properly? Let me know on that, my 85 wagon just hit 300000 miles, and I am in Wisco so tons of rust, and the body/suspension is rotting out to dangerous levels, so I am getting a new wagon hopefully this summer, so I am just wanting to minimize any expenses at this point, otherwise I might just fix it. Thanks for the help, James |

There will be a check valve that also acts as a splitter near the firewall. It is yellow and has one nipple going into it and has two coming out toward the firewall. Both lines coming out and through the firewall will be yellow and one will have a stripe. The plain one goes to your door locks and the one with the stripe goes to the vacuum reservoir under the back of the car. You will need some sort of check valve in place if you want to keep using the reservoir, but you will not really need the reservoir if you are not using the door locks at all. You could just take a golf tee and plug the line that goes into the check valve. I hope this makes sense and helps.
